REDUCE – REUSE – RECYCLE

Although not all the plastic in our packaging goods is made from recycled content.  We are continuing to work hard to minimise our plastic waste within our company and in reality our industry as a whole, in an efficient way by focusing primarily on the first of the 3R’s. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Reduce

Firstly, in many of our products, we are reducing the amount of virgin plastic used at manufacture, resulting in many items containing a minimum of 30% recycled material.  This is achieved by using high quality post industrial waste at source and being subject to high quality controls.

Reuse

Once you have finished using your bags for their primary purpose, reusing and discovering a new alternate way to use your bags should be all of our goals, instead of simply discarding them.

These procedures are essential for controlling our plastic waste and helping towards the prevention of climate change and helping to achieve our carbon reduction.

Recycle

Once the bag has served it’s intended purpose it can be sent through the recycling process and made into other products within and outside the industry.

Our bags are:

Made with recycled content reducing the amount of plastic produced within our company.
Robust packaging solutions for reusability and longevity, helping to extend its life as its primary use.
Fully recyclable at specific recycling plants.

The fact that bulk bags are constructed of polypropylene (PP), an extremely strong polymer which contains recycled content that is easily recyclable or reusable, is one of its best advantages.

Once the bag is empty, you have two options: use it for something else or send it to a nearby plastic recycling business so the material can be recovered.

Do not simply bin or burn this bag!

Following the completion of your bag’s primary function, our team has many ideas for what you can do with it.  Please see some innovative ideas below……..

Compost

Compost heaps could be created quickly with bulk compost bags! Start by putting your greens and browns on top of a layer of sticks and twigs, followed by some worm-rich soil or old compost.

You’ll get free compost in a few months if you give it a stir every few months!

Raised flower beds

Raised beds are the ideal size for bulk bags. Put drainage material in the bottom, fold over the sides and fill with compost or soil. Last year some of our team grew potatoes in their bags with enormous success!

Garden Debris

They make fantastic bins for gathering up all weeds, tree pruning’s, grass cuttings and hedge clippings. You can use them to transfer materials to your neighbourhood recycling facility if you don’t have enough space to compost at home.

Leaf Mould

Leaf mould is simple to make and is much more beneficial to gardeners than compost. Simply pack your bag full of leaves, cover it, and let nature do its thing for a year or two.

Eliminate weeds

By leaving weed-suppressing plastic at the store and reusing your bulk bag instead, you can save time and money! – Before covering with gravel or wood chips, cut the bags into your required size(s) pieces and arrange them on the ground.

Maintain your furniture

Winter weather may be rough on patio furniture, but not everyone has space to store items in a garage or shed. Waterproof covers for chairs, tables and the kid’s sandbox can be created from your unwanted bulk bags.
