Our sustainability efforts are split into 3 categories A Smart Future, Regen, and Smart Cycle
Our commitment to the environment and sustainability projects are ongoing and remain at the forefront of everything that we do.
Environmental responsibility in business refers to our commitment to minimising the negative impact on the natural environment and promoting sustainable practices. Our Smartlift UK team last year collaborated with an independent environmental consultant to help them lower their carbon emissions but also explore strategies for offsetting the emissions they generated, with great success Smartlift UK have achieved Carbon Neutral Business scopes 1,2 and 3 (cat 3,4,5,6,12) with Carbon Neutral Britain. Our Smartlift sustainability team are excited to start the process for us, to offset the emissions we generate.
Organisations analyse their sustainability practices against environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics. sustainability initiatives include improving energy management efficiency through alternative power sources and carbon accounting, deploying infrastructure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve water resources, and eliminate waste.
There are several elements we have considered when making a conscious effort to reduce our carbon emissions as a business:
Emission Sources: Calculating our carbon footprint will assist us in the future being able to offset them along with plans to lower our emissions going forward.
Reductions Plan: Developing a reduction strategy to meet our short-term sustainability objectives while targeting net zero. We, together with our factory and other key enterprises with which we collaborate, are committed to making a constructive contribution to environmental preservation by working towards a more sustainable future.
Green Energy: Our Edenderry office currently operates on a general commercial energy tariff, but our provider sources 100% of the supply from renewable energy.
Examine Business Travel: We have hybrid vehicles for our sales reps who spend more time on the road for their role within the business.
Involve the supply chain: As part of our strategy to become a net zero business in the future, we consider the supply chain’s efforts to be sustainable and environmentally conscious, ensuring that they are contributing to a smarter future.
Carbon offsetting: Not all emissions are preventable. At Smartlift Ireland, we are working towards calculating our carbon footprint to offset it, which will go on to help programs around the world mitigate our impact.
Communicate Plans and Successes: We keep all our staff and customer regularly updated with all our sustainability efforts.
Stay informed: Our quality manager keeps us updated with all the relevant certifications, assessment platforms and government policies on climate change.
